Name: Nur Saffana Saskia Kirana

Class: 4B

There is not just one way to organize a piece of writing. Each person has their process of writing. Writers need different strategies for the various writing that is done. Every writer is different, but their goal is the same: to get good writing. Therefore, they try different strategies to deal with the problem flexibly. Following the advice of others roughly becomes one of the important things because it can help the thought process when writing. Often there are some points in writing that are questioned by the author, but it turns out that most writers find that when they change their writing strategy.

The structure of writing establishes a relationship between different ideas, looking at a work from different points of view we can see the different types of structures that authors are used to. There are several types of structures –the way writing is organized and functions - that are used in Writing at University.

1. Chronology Writing

What happened?

This structure is often used in history, the plot of novels, and movies because it follows time by looking at a specific sequence of events or periods. Chronology can be expressed visually as a 'timeline' showing the sequence of events over a given period.

2. Description Writing

What are its characteristics or what are the different parts that make it up?

The description is represented in the form of a diagram, or with labeled parts. However, usually, the author needs to consider the question in order to be more analytical.

3. Cause–effect writing

Why did something happen? What were the consequences?

There are still many ideas that consider it simple about the correlation between two things, even though this type of writing structure is still an important way to explain a relationship. The author's thinking will become more complex when he begins to consider many different factors that will be analyzed.

4. Compare/contrast writing

How are two things different from and like each other?

This type of structure shows the similarities and differences, information, and processes between two things. This type of structure can handle the structure of comparison/contrast in one of the general characteristics of writing at university. This structure can meet the needs of tasks at the University.

5. Summary writing

What does the writer say? What is this idea about?

This structure refers to points and ideas that are relevant to your particular task or a specific part of the author's argument in the task.

6. Analysis writing

Going deeper: what is this all about?

The hardest part is analyzing because we need continuous searches and various questions that at least support the points we are going to analyze.

7. Evaluating Writing

What is the value of this? How is this important?

You have to evaluate different positions, perspectives, or points of view. You have to do more than just say. You have to give reasons for your judgment. Evaluating may involve writing about how different positions suggest a certain attitude or omitting some important information, weighing each other up. It is important to remember that to evaluate University writing, you must be analytical.
